| NYC Plumbing Code Changes That Affect You! |
The Plumbing code for New York City has been overhauled for the first time in forty years. Those changes went into effect July 1, 2008. And they will affect you.
Beginning last July each and every backflow preventer installed in the city is required to be inspected annually. We at BPNY are encouraged by this change as New Yorkers will now be better protected from dangerous impurities and pathogens in their drinking water. But it does mean more work for you. Backflow preventers on boilers, in doctors and dentists offices, on tenant's bidets, and at A/C cooling towers now must be identified and maintained.
BPNY is here to help. Attached you will find a handy guide to identifying the backflow units in your buildings as well as a checklist to fill out and fax to us when they are all found. We will then make an appointment to test these long ignore devices and repair them if necessary. Give us a call for more information.
